DRIVING-SIMULATOR

BEVAC Consulting Engineers gained experience in the field of simulation during its participation in the development and fine-tuning of a driving-simulator for railcars on behalf of the Moroccan National Railroads.
This simulator consists of a control panel for the instructor and a true to nature reproduction of a railcar. A programmable logic controller simulates the manoeuvres and the possible breakdowns of the bogie. Sound effects are created using a computer equipped with a standard sound card.
A video-projection system allows to reproduce videorecordings of existing railways. The speed of reproduction is synchronised with the speed of the railcar set by the pupil train conductor.
In addition, this system allows the projection of synthetic images. This allows the driving instructor to present different situations and changing conditions (signalling, weather conditions, obstacles, ...) to the pupil train conductor as a completion to the practical training.

Although the limited budget that could be made available for the realisation, the users regard this simulator as a very useful tool having a high quality.
